Doug and Philip, share an unwavering desire to make their worlds better places. Eventually, they came to understand that the best way to do this was by impacting the place where most of us will spend the majority of our time: at work.
In his work as a behavior therapist Doug helped people in crisis put their lives back together. He repeatedly observed how the workplace could impact his clients in positive and negative ways. Philip, in his work and research on motivation and productivity, came to see how critically important the power of engaged employees can be across all aspects of his clients’ lives.
Doug and Philip both noticed that many of their clients treated life and work as if these two very interdependent realms were somehow divided. The idea that everything else in the universe somehow melts away the moment employees step inside the office seemed like magical thinking. They realized that being stressed or overwhelmed in one realm significantly impacted the other, and that the common perception just made no sense.
Both research and client experience has clearly shown Doug and Philip that what’s good for us as individuals is also good for the corporate bottom line. This is why both are passionate about helping people to be their best across all areas of their lives!
Business is a human endeavor. Strip away the factories, the stores, the office towers, the systems and analytics, and what’s left are people looking to do something meaningful and feel like they belong to something bigger than themselves.
And yet, shockingly, so much strategic business planning has little to do with developing people personally and professionally. Processes and systems are over-emphasized and outcomes feel more like a cold and impersonal chart or statistic. Employees may see the the byproduct of all that work and planning but they simply don’t feel valued in the bigger picture.
At Brockway, we help clients uncover strategies to build an environment and corporate culture that not only feeds your bottom line, but also impacts each individual that reports to your company for work.

“Doug arrived in London in the midst of critical and difficult contract negotiations with my company’s largest client. He quickly got up to speed and helped me to identify additional strategies to communicate the value of our work and our hopes for expanding this relationship. Doug sat in on our negotiation meeting the following day and facilitated the conversation , ensuring the client fully understood what was being proposed … Not only were we successful in renewing our original contract but two additional ones as well. Thanks Doug!”
